DUI: Choices and Consequences
This dramatization on the consequences of driving under the influence of intoxicants
features Jack Hamilton, a young college student who decides to unwind from the pressures
of school, work and family life by having \"a few beers.\" The program provides
compelling support to Health and Life Skills units on behavioral choices and decision
making, DUI, alcohol and drug education, substance abuse, safety, personal health, and
family life issues, as viewers live through Jack\'s experience. The three drinks he
consumes are enough to slow his reflexes, impair his judgment and raise his blood alcohol
level to the point of intoxication. Within moments of getting behind the wheel, Jack
causes a collision that results in severe injury to another driver. The consequences of
Jack\'s arrest illustrate the overwhelming financial and legal damage caused by drinking
and driving. Even after Jack serves his time, he must cope with two years of probation,
suspension of his driver\'s license, and a conviction record that will mar his chance of
finding employment. First time offenders who think that they are immune to the severe
consequences of being arrested for DUI will be reminded that today\'s courts impose heavy
punishments on drivers who are DUI.
